Was contacted by another recruiter at the company, and I was an internal referral. I was asked to come in for coffee. When I was met at the front, the recruiter didn't remember my name or any details about why I was there. During coffee they explained that the role they reached out about wasn't an actual role, and they were more looking for the right "person" for the company and not just filling a space. They then rushed through their questions to me, which were all personal and/or extremely vague. Things like "So you didn't want to take that job? Hmmm" Almost like they didn't believe my answers. Made me SO uncomfortable. Then, the interviewer looked at the clock and told me they had to go to another meeting but "did I have any questions?" Well - yes I had about 10 questions - but considering you just told me you need to go somewhere else, I'm guessing I won't have time to ask them...so I asked one question and then wanted to be polite and let them go to their meeting. What pressure to put on a candidate! After the meeting I followed up with a thank you and asked about next steps. The recruiter got back to me to saying they wanted to bring me in to meet with the team. Confusing, but I was excited about the company! So I gave availability, connected with the coordinator, signed their NDA, everything was all set. Then the day before the interview the recruiter emails to tell me that the job was actually a junior level role and would I be still be interested. I replied that I wanted more details and clarity around what that meant. She THEN replied that the role would not only be junior, but also on a contract, instead of full-time! Which was never discussed, never brought up. This is something, as a recruiter, I am always so cautious of with talent. You can never assume that someone's life situation is set up for a contract opportunity. You have to verify this with talent right off the bat. So, I replied that I would be interested in rolling up my sleeves to do the work necessary for a great company, but I would not be able to take a contract opportunity and to please consider me for the other full-time role that they said hadn't been filled yet. The recruiter replied "Got it." Nothing more and I never heard back again. Literally one of the worst candidate experiences I have ever had and I was so bummed out because the company seemed like an amazing place to be and collaborate and work hard. That recruiter totally ruined my view of the company and now I just feel confused and a little insulted.
