I applied for this position via the web. I received an e-mail a day later from HR saying I was fit to qualify for the position. I have a bachelors degree in business in case anyone is wondering. Anyway, I schedule an interview on the ONLY day they are interviewing, 1 week later. I anxiously wait for several days to go by and clear my schedule to make sure I am prepared (for a Tuesday). The day comes and I walk into HR and there are about 5-10 other people there, mostly 100lb young girls. I am thinking to myself, "Small young girls, one other guy who is very tiny as well, they must be applying for retail positions within bloomingdale's, not a loss prevention position where they might have to apprehend someone, there is just no way they would be here for that". Anyway, I am 15 minutes early and I eagerly wait....2 women come in and bring everyone into a class, I decide since everyone is walking in to head in as well, I get stopped at the door and ask if I am in the right place, everyone else sits down. I say I have an interview for LP and I am looking for HR - apologize and ask to be redirected. I get sat down at a table and the women walks into an office and makes a call, 3 minutes later a normal size dude who looks like a cop walks into the room and into the class room and says hes from LP and asks everyone where they are from and what their names are and closes the door, immediately I start asking myself whats going on here? 2 minutes later I get called in and asked my name, where I am from, and why I want the job. I went over why I want the job with someone knowledgeable in a mock interview and said it perfectly. After that she replies, "the position is basically filled, but there are others in bloomingdale's at so and so.... which are an easy 30-60 minute drive from where I live. Needless to say, I got 3 e-mails saying I was qualified, scheduled, and a reminder last night to make sure I dont miss my appointment today. I completely WASTED my time. If I was working at the moment, I would have probably taken off work today to go to this interview for absolutely no reason. Regardless, time could have been spent somewhere else. This has to be the least professional situation I have ever encountered in my entire 25 years of living on this planet. I am quite blown away and debating on calling HR and asking for someone higher up to literally complain about my wasted time. I havent decided yet, but I am sitting here very employable yet unemployed and many people are out there with great jobs who simply do not deserve them. Maybe bloomingdale's HR should be reminded of this...
