Bloomingdale’s is a luxury-based company that has been established for over 100 years, yet they cannot even pay workers a minimum of $20 per hour. Almost every phone call is a high stress interaction (due to all the issues retailers face, deliveries not received or delays with shipments, etc). There’s no such thing as taking off work, and I’m not exaggerating. For my birthday, I had to trade my off day with the day of my birthday, just so I could be off. Please note self-trading shifts are not always approved. The probationary period does not even end until after six months (which is different from the standard practice of 90 days to earn paid time off). Additionally, expect a high micromanagement environment due to the metrics-driven (KPIs) approach. I strongly feel this method is subpar, since there is consistent potential for irrational customers with attitudes. Outside of company issues, customers have the potential to create their own issues, such as returning the wrong item. Regarding all dynamics, I would not suggest working here because there are no benefits for the worker. To clarify, healthcare as a benefit, that is a basic human right. For more context, I started the position in January 2026, and I resigned April 2026 (my birthday month). I couldn’t take it anymore.
