I was initially reached out to by a recruiter for a People Ops Associate role which suddenly became a Peoples Ops Mgr role. I went through the entire interview process which took about 5+ weeks or so. They asked for references as a last step in the process and reached out to them immediately. From there it was radio silence.
After a couple weeks, the recruiter reached back out to me to say that my references were all very positive and that the team was aligning internally and she'll be providing an update soon. About two weeks after that with no updates, I checked Bond's job board and saw that the role had changed to an HR Associate role and they had added an HR Director role as well. I then reached out to both the HM and recruiter and was met with no response.
After all this time, they have not given me the courtesy of providing an explanation of why they decided not to move forward or why they changed the role. During the interview process, I looked at other Glassdoor reviews and noticed that others had mentioned the team's habit of ghosting. Given they requested references, I had hoped this wouldn't play out the same way but I can't say I'm surprised that it did.
It seems the team didn't really know what they were looking for when they started interviewing for the role and my time was wasted because of it.
My advice, be professional and courteous - give your candidates the time of day when they are doing the same for you. Bad news is better than no news.
Other than that, the team was pleasant to meet with and the process itself was very efficient. My one real critique is how they treated me at the very end but I can't take that personally since it seems to be how they operate.
