I applied online. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Bronx Defenders in Oct 2019
Interview
Received a email a about one week after I applied regarding a phone interview. The phone interview was conducted by the social work supervisor and lead social worker. It was exactly 30 minutes. There was a lot of scenario questions and questions regarding my experience. I was promised to hear “very soon” whether I will make it to the next round or not (in person interview). However, after waiting A MONTH , I followed up with a email with the two who I interviewed with. One week later, after I had lost hope in hearing back, I received a rejection email, by one of the social workers on the team, not even from the two who interviewed me. I am aware that it is a busy time of the year, and agencies do get caught in their work, but it is important to be considerate of the applicants, especially when making promises. In addition, it would be nice to hear back from the actual two who interviewed me, rather than get rejected by someone I did not speak to. Very very disappointed. Wasted my time waiting to hear back.
They asked normal interview questions and case scenarios, plus some role play and case notes at the end. Was a panel interview with the interviewers just reading off the questions. Felt kind of cold
Usually do a screening phone call prior to scheduling an interview with the hiring committee. They send interview questions the day before, have a hiring committee of at least five people.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Questions about diversity, hypotenthical client scenarios, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
The interview prompts were sent ahead of time and were really thoughtfully laid out. I appreciated what kinds of questions they asked. It helped me see that I was a good fit.
