      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Burberry (London, England) in Apr 2019

      Interview

I applied for the job in January and didn't hear anything until March, when I got a random phone call inviting me for an in-person interview. After they rearranged a few times (understandable, especially when interviewing with more senior members of staff), I went along for an interview. The interview itself was fine, but the questions were hard and I didn't think I came across like I was right for the role. However, I hoped that I'd get invited back a second time to make a better impression. After the interview I didn't hear anything, so after a week I emailed the person in HR who had arranged the interview with me, and I got an automatic reply back saying that the email address didn't exist. Weird. Then I tried to email the lady I'd interviewed with but got a reply back saying she'd gone on maternity leave and her replacement wouldn't be starting for another month, so I gave up and forgot about it. I guessed that if I'd been successful then they'd have at least tried to get in contact. Then, a few weeks later I got another call from the HR team asking me along for a *first* interview with someone else for the same position. I explained I'd already interviewed and they seemed confused. However, I decided to go along again because the role really did seem good. This interview went much better than the first and I really connected with the two people I spoke to. They said I should hear back soon about whether or not I'd been successful. A week went by and still no response. I emailed and was assured I'd hear back after the Easter break. I waited another week after Easter before contacting them again, and got no response. Another 10 days passed by and I emailed a final time, only to then be told they'd decided to hire internally instead, but could they keep my details on file for future..? No apology for their lack of communication, and the whole process was all-in-all a colossal waste of time and energy and really made me feel terrible about myself. I expected much more from such a renowned brand and would discourage anyone from interviewing there due to their pure lack of organisation and transparency. What a shame.
