I applied online. I interviewed at Burlington Stores (Chula Vista, CA) in Aug 2023
Interview
Was scheduled for a phone interview for the Chula Vista, CA location. The interviewer did not call at the scheduled time. I called the store 20 minutes after my scheduled interview time and was put on hold for 15 minutes. When the interviewer did answer she seemed upset/ annoyed. I understand that retail is fast paced and can be busy at times so I asked if this was still a good time and if not I was more than happy to reschedule for a more convenient time for her. She declined and asked what position I applied for. When I told her, she said that they aren't hiring for that position at this time and asked if I would be interested in any other positions. It is completely unprofessional to waste some ones time like this. Had I been late for my interview, it would have reflected poorly on me. This was a HUGE red flag, I declined the other positions they offered.
it was very easy i was asked 3 questions. where have you worked before. why should we hire you. what's your availability. and then there was an orientation for 5 hours
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
one question they asked was what was my availibitlity
The interview went great the manager gave me the job right then and said to come back in a week. Later I got a call to finish the application on the website and then we could move forward. The next day I got a text she didn’t realize there were no open positions available and I could try again later for a holiday season. Today I got a message saying they decided to go with a candidate with qualifications that were a better fit. I let go of other jobs because I was confirmed to have been hired. I have been in customer service for 10+ years but today I got a message they hired someone with better fitting qualifications. I shouldn’t have let go of other jobs that was my fault. They shouldn’t have confirmed I was hired after the interview then said I wasn’t because there was no openings to then messaged they hired someone else. I love the items in the store and the interview was with a new manager she was awesome but was really disappointed with the way this was handled and that there’s nothing I can do about that. I’m a single mom and have been looking for a job for awhile and finally got 3 callbacks but the first job to say I was hired was Burlington so I took that and let the others know I was hired. The interview was fine but I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
I was asked Really simple question like about my experience as well as curtain situations I have encountered in my other jobs as well as how i reacted and overall a good interview
