I applied through their website, and a recruiter from their company had reached out to me about a week later to do a phone interview, then I had an in-person interview on site with the people who would have been my supervisors.
The phone interview went well, and she made the position and hours seem like exactly what I was looking for. Apparently, there is much disconnect between what the recruiters tell people and what it is actually like. I was told by the recruiter this was a technical (almost IT) position on first shift, which I wanted.
I had my in person interview several days later. The building had a security guard at the entrance who had to let me in, and when I told him I was there for an interview he said "Really?!"
I was let into a lobby and the receptionist called the interviewing managers and had me sit near the reception desk to wait for them. I was about 10 minutes early, and it took them almost 20 minutes to come out for me. There were twoanagers in my interview; I don't remember their names but I also bet they don't remember mine.
We went into a small conference room, and I had to wait 5-10 more minutes for the interview to start as they talked to each other about lunch plans that afternoon and ignored me sitting across from them. Then after a moment of silence they began the interview by informing me this was a customer service position with the shifts being about 4pk to midnight. I asked if they had other shifts they were hiring for, since their own recruiter told me differently. And was told "Not like we control what she says to get you in here." Except, yeah, you do?
I was laid off from my previous job and had to answer questions about why that was, my qualifications, customer service questions "How would you handle an angry phone call?" Etc.
I had seen some less than stellar reviews here from people working at this location (Norwood/Cincinnati), so at the end I asked a few questions myself. Mostly clarification on what work duties were, but I also asked if there was room for advancement, and "What do your employees like the most about being here?" hoping to hear their side of it not being as bad as the reviews made it seem.
Their answer to their first question was to tell me that people got promoted all the time...to analyst II. Then analyst III. Then analyst IV. Then supervisors.
The second question they were quiet about. Then one of them told me they had food trucks there on Fridays and that was probably the best part. Completely pathetic answer if you ask me.
I heard back from the recruiter a few days after this interview, and she informed me I was turned down for the customer service position I walked into but was invited back to interview what I ACTUALLY applied for and thought I was getting. And what I thought I was interviewing for the first time. I turned her down.
