I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at CFGI (Philadelphia, PA) in Aug 2025
Interview
I had an initial 15–30 minute phone screening. I was disinterested after, I reached out to the recruiter to tell them I would not be going forward. Over the following weeks, the recruiter contacted me repeatedly by phone and email, which gave the impression the company was struggling to find qualified candidates.
I proceeded with two interviews — one with the Director of Tax and one with a Senior Manager. I prepared extensively and asked thoughtful, relevant questions. I left the conversations feeling they had gone well.
The feedback I later received stated that I appeared “disengaged” and “would not be coachable.” It was vague, lacked any constructive or tangible points for improvement, and felt more like a personal jab than professional feedback.
If this is how the company treats applicants during the hiring process, I have serious concerns about how they might treat employees. There are many organizations that value professionalism and respect — I would encourage candidates to seek opportunities with those instead.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at CFGI in Oct 2021
Interview
Very relaxed. 4 Calls in total.
1. Hiring Manager - Casual discussion to feel you out, and explain what CFGI is.
2. Partner Call - None technical discussion, questions about background. Information about CFGI's practice. Very conversational and informative.
3. Call with Tax Consultant. This call was very helpful in my decision making process. This call was closer to Peer to Peer, and allowed for lots of question answering. It was more for the benefit of the interviewee I feel, and was very helpful.
4. Director Call - final call with director I would be assigned to. No technical questions, discussion about the issues his team is facing, and the value/role I could bring/play on it.
