Phone screen with recruiter. After speaking with probably 100 different companies in the past 3 years this was by far the worst and most unprofessional conversation I've ever had. Recruiter started asking weird questions (is this my home or cell number? do i live in tokyo? (no) did I apply under a different name) with an unpleasant attitude. She then asks my highest level of education (Ph.D.) and wanted to know if I also got Bachelor's and Master's degrees on the way (yes, but why is that relevant?). Then she wanted to know what fields those were in. OK, but those are all on my resume. This is where she took pride in not looking at my resume beforehand because some applicants lie and submit fake resumes, and this way she could double-check that I was telling the truth. Next she wanted to know what salary I expected. I said industry standard range is fine, what range are you offering. She said she couldn't tell me unless I told her first. (Did I just magically transport into some bad high school movie here?). At this point I told her no thanks and ended the call.
