SIX disorganized and unprofessional interviews. Sent an email to the Lead Recruiting Coordinator due to how unbelievable the process went. Read the email below: (names and correct pronouns have been removed)
Initial interview with - : was unclear of what they were really was looking for in a candidate or what questions to ask me since the position is switching focus from sales to service. - asked general questions and gave me great feedback. - did mention what they envisioned the role to possibly be and where the see the department heading. I asked questions about how to be successful in the role, what qualities they look for in a great employee that they ultimately would want to promote. I also asked them about items they think ChargePoint does great and items they think Charge Point does poorly. While the interview was somewhat awkward without the role fulling being realized, our conversation was great and I got the impression that they liked me, which was later confirmed via recruiter email.
Second interview was uncomfortable and condescending. They came into the phone interview late complaining how there was never any interview rooms. They then said they were unsure why they was there doing the interview and said that it is impossible to get to know someone from a 20-30 min phone conversation. They asked me no real questions of substance but rather asked condescending remarks like ... "-___... what does that company do?" "whoa you were only at _____ for a short time.. what went wrong there?" I politely answered their questions and I asked questions about the roll, responsibilities and expectations... and was met with the same response of "that was hard to answer because the role was switching gears from its current sale motive to more of a service role. Honestly, I left this interview questioning how this person even has their role in the company and questioning if I would even want to work with/for them. The whole interaction made me feel like I was a huge inconvenience to them.
Third interview was good
Forth interview was an in-person interview with - and went ok. All my questions asked were similar to questions I presented - and again could not really be answered. They continued to explain how they loathed service and was unsure if they liked how the role was changing. I thought this was unprofessional and somewhat ironic considering they were interviewing me for a Customer Success Manager role.
Fifth interview (______'s second Interview) This was a video interview and - told me it was just to catch-up and to temperature gage me to see if I am still interested as they were. Mentioned I would most likely be sending me good news in the coming week.
Sixth Interview (___'s second interview) : I have to say this interview was insulting and an utter waste of time. I felt like they wanted a video interview to see what I looked like, like the whole interaction was staged for them to judge me on my appearance. As suspected just like their first interview ... there again was no substance. They didn't ask me any questions of skill but asked me to remind them of my experience and quickly asked me a pointless cliché interview question. They then went on to show me decorations in the office and talked about their recent vacation where they stayed at ta luxury hotel. I accepted it for what it was and conversed with them as if we were friends and even made her laugh. They then asked some rather inappropriate (for the setting) personal questions and said I didn't have to answer but they were known as the company question asker. Of course I answered them as one does in an interview. They then asked why I never sent them a thank you email after the first interview I had with them. They said that none of the candidates did and maybe it was "like a millennial thing" but they found it to be rude. I informed them I believe it was due to the way the interviews were set up and that I actually had not interacted with them via email nor had their email until their request for the second interview. They claimed this untrue. Regardless, I sent them a thank you email after the second interview.
Received generic denial email.
Upon receiving this email, I was surprised, disappointed and honestly relieved. Surprised because during the whole SIX interviews, I received positive feedback and almost a verbal "we are going to hire you" Disappointed because I didn't get the position after putting a lot of effort and patience into one real interview, three somewhat unprofessional interviews and two condescending, unprofessional and embarrassing interviews. I am relieved because I couldn't imagine working in this disorganized department under people whom I already lost respect for and whom seem to know nothing about service. I can only imagine how your customers feel.
I hope this email serves as a window into what potential candidates experience while in the hiring process with ChargePoint.
