I applied for a job with White House|Black Market, but was referred to Chico's when the former passed on hiring me. I called immediately to set up an interview, only to find that I wouldn't meet with anyone for over week. Still needing a job, I kept applying in the interim, but kept the appointment. I really wanted a job in retail, and Chico's seemed to be a good fit. The day came, and as soon as I walked in, the manager I spoke with asked me to wait not for her, but for her assistant. I found that kind of odd, seeing as how she'd been really excited to meet with me, but I rolled with the punches and met with the very friendly, very personable assistant manager. She asked the usual questions, asked about my background, wanted to know if I had any grasp of color theory, as they often style their customers in different outfits. It was a pretty pleasant interview, almost casual. I waited and waited for her to say that I had the job, but she ended up saying she wanted to talk to the GM, who would call me to interview in the coming days. I knew then that I wouldn't be working for Chico's, because, is it really necessary to have two interviews for a job that only has twenty hours or less each week? I haven't heard from them, and don't plan to call. I don't think Chico's or White House|Black Market is a bad place to work, but rather, the stores to which I applied just aren't organized very well.
