This was an interview I was really excited about. The product, culture, leadership team, and growth potential all seemed very impressive. I was thrilled to receive an interview request.
I spent hours researching and preparing and planned my entire day around the interview, which was supposed to be over zoom/video. Ten minutes before the interview, I received an email stating that it would be recorded, clicked on the link provided, and waited and waited. Nobody ever joined the zoom interview or responded to my polite follow-up messages to reschedule.
As a recruiter with strong experience working with hyper-growth start-ups, I firmly believe candidate experience is incredibly important and sets the tone to attract top talent (and exhibit company brand). I'm also fully aware of the impact rapid growth can have on the TA/recruiting team, and how it can affect scheduling/availability, which is why I gave the recruiter the benefit of the doubt and remained hopeful for the chance to reschedule.
However, for a potential employer to no-show and ghost on a scheduled interview without offering a) to reschedule or b) a brief phone call explanation, this was pretty sub-par and not the experience I was expecting. A 5-minute phone call in this situation can go a long way.
This "interview" was a disappointment and a complete waste of time.
