Extremely disorganized interview process. I felt very much misled by the recruiters. After going through the first demo, receiving a complimentary email on my performance, and interviewing in person with 5 different people at their San Francisco office, I was told that I would have their decision by the end of the week. After my live interviews, I sat with down with one of the recruiters who told me that everybody really liked me. She looked me in the eye and told me to stop pursuing other opportunities because they really want me on board, just need to square out the logistics (background check, check references, etc). When I didn’t receive any word, I reached out to that same recruiter. She told me that they are simply waiting for our COO/Co-Founder to approve bringing me on board. Insert multiple smiley faces here.
While it certainly was not an official job offer, I think that any reasonable person would take that as an extremely positive sign. I then received no word for another 4 days, at which point I reached out again to see if there was a decision. I was asked to do a 2nd demo, completely different from my first one. Another 7-10 hours preparing a deck of slides and practicing my new pitch.
After the amount of time I put in to applying for the position, I was extremely offended to receive a rejection letter in the form of a generic email from a recruiter that I have not spoken with throughout the process. From a company that supposedly prides itself on corporate culture, I would have expected at least a phone call thanking me for my time and effort, and letting me know why I was not selected so that I could have learned from this experience.
I was strung along for nearly 3 weeks, and have forgone other opportunities under the misguided belief that they were simply waiting for approval from the COO to hire me. If that is the way ClearSlide does business, I am truly relieved they did not hire me. I could never work for a company who treated anyone in such a way.
