I am an experienced engineering director with numerous years in the industry. Recently, I interviewed with Clipboard Health and had an unusual experience that raised concerns about their interview process.
Before taking the interview, I read several negative comments here about interviewing with Clipboard Health, many of which suggested that the company often wastes candidates' time and offers "ghost jobs." Despite these warnings, I proceeded with the interview, albeit with low expectations.
During the interview, I was asked to complete a test that involved a comprehensive PR review, encompassing architecture, design, and code review all rolled into one. While such a test aims to gauge a candidate's experience and expertise, it also reflects on the company's systems and processes. Given my extensive experience in building, deploying, and maintaining numerous microservices and APIs, I provided one of the most thorough reviews possible within the allotted time of few hours. Despite this, I was rejected.
This experience led me to question the company's intent and transparency. Either they have identified something I missed in my decade of experience (which is unlikely, given their relatively short operational history), or this aligns with the claims of the job being a "ghost job." There are multiple reports of startups indulging in such ghost jobs for various reasons.
Based on this experience, I would advise potential candidates to approach interviews with Clipboard Health cautiously.
