Interview Process: Recruiter screen, hiring manager interview, panel role-play presentation with the hiring team, and a final panel interview with sales leadership.
Recruiter: Unfortunately, this was the weakest part of the process. Communication was inconsistent, emails often went unanswered, and scheduling lacked coordination. I was also given the impression over the phone that an offer was likely heading into the final round, only to receive an automated rejection with no additional feedback after the final round. That disconnect made for a disappointing candidate experience.
Hiring Manager: A very positive experience. Both conversations were engaging, professional, and gave me a good understanding of the role. The role-play exercise was practical, relevant to the position, and a fair way to evaluate candidates.
Sales Leadership: The final interview felt completely different from the rest of the interviews. The interview style was highly confrontational and appeared to be designed as a pressure test. While I understand challenging candidates to assess how they handle objections or difficult conversations, the interaction came across as unnecessarily adversarial rather than constructive. In particular, the VP of Sales had a very aggressive interview style that did not align with the type of leadership or culture I personally look for. Candidates who thrive in highly intense, pressure-driven environments may view this differently, but it ultimately reinforced that this role was not the right fit for me.
