They interview a ton of people trying to select just a few.
In my initial interview with Jocelyn Jackson, we discussed my experience with technologies like Hadoop, SQL, Linux, and big data tools. She asked about my years of experience, specific projects, and roles at previous companies, as well as my approach to customer-focused solutions and teamwork in remote settings. We touched on Agile methodologies, my motivations, and how I manage work. The role would potentially place me in a pricing and strategy division, collaborating with a small team. Questions seemed spoken from a script though.
The second round focused on technical skills (based on conversations). They asked questions about SQL, such as GROUP BY usage, differences between joins and blending, and analytical project workflows. I highlighted my experience with healthcare data and collaboration across teams, emphasizing my communication skills.
In my final round with Janatta Washington, we discussed claims-heavy projects, preferences for working with specific data types, and my comfort with SQL, Python, and Tableau. She inquired about my experience with APIs and extracting data, as well as how I handle monotonous tasks and cope with failure. I shared examples of problem-solving, adaptability, and improving workflows.
They took a few months to get back to me although I had a feeling they were just trying to interview more people. They kept posting the same job description on job boards too.
