I decided to withdraw my application after going through most of the interview process, and I'd like to share my experience to help future candidates and the company reflect on its hiring practices. Lack of Clarity and Respect for Time : A scheduled meeting with the VP of Engineering was canceled without any explanation. It felt like the decision was already made, and the cancellation came across as unprofessional, giving the impression that a candidate's time and effort weren't valued. Misaligned Expectations : I was told the final stage would be a coding-focused interview , but the session emphasized business and behavioral questions, especially from two of the interviewers. This significantly affected how I prepared and engaged during the interview. Technical Round Concerns : I was asked detailed questions about Delta Lake , which was neither listed in the job description nor part of the initial task. The questions were delivered in a tone that felt more like a challenge to reveal gaps rather than a collaborative problem-solving discussion. Incomplete On-site Task : The take-home task provided lacked essential context and had to be completed in just 3 hours. This forced me to rely heavily on assumptions based on my past experience in the domain, which didn't feel like a fair assessment. Concerns About Team Culture : One of the interactions I had during the process felt closed-off and not encouraging. It left me with concerns about openness and collaboration within the team culture. Overall, the process didn't align with what had been communicated, and it didn't leave me with confidence about the team fit. I appreciate the opportunity, but I hope this feedback helps improve the process for future candidates.
