Interview
My interview process went on for about a month. Applied online and the recruiter reached out within a week. The interview process was pretty standard: 30 recruiter screen followed by 45 mins hiring manager scree, 45 mins technical interview and finally virtual onsite. The interview process was transparent, however some of panel interviewers were pretty condescending and power trippy. One of the interviewer from time to time gave disapproving expressions whenever I was answering and that was disrespectful. I can totally understand that my answers were not what they were looking for but whenever I’m interviewing somebody I try to be a team player to navigate the answers the candidates are giving rather than go in the mode of “you have to prove yourself to me” which is what at least 2/4 panel interviewers were trying to do.

Recruiter screen:
* Why are you looking to change jobs? Do you have any deadlines? Why Duolingo? Going over resume to talk about kinds of projects you worked on. Team sizes, kinds of technologies used etc.
Hiring Manager screen:
* Similar to recruiter screen. Go over your resume to discuss about projects you worked on: team size, technologies etc,
Technical interview:
* They provided the area they will interview about before the interview was scheduled. I was given authentication and account creation. During the interview, had to walk through the system design that was provided to me by the interviewer for different scenarios. Add to the system design for different scenarios.
Panel interviews
* Standard tell me a time when questions (most of them where repetitive between the different interviews)
Tell me a time when you had to start a new process or optimize an existing process
Tell me a time when you had to resolve a conflict

Interview
It was 3 phases, one skip level with the Head of Engineering, then a technical one with an Engineering Manager and then the panel of 4 interviews, one for ownership, another for communication and collaboration, another for project management and another for cultural fit.

Interview
From the date that I applied to the date I got the offer letter was exactly two months. The interview stages were: phone screen with a recruiter, Zoom interview, written take-home assignment, virtual "on-site" interview day, and reference check. Every single person I spoke with was friendly and a pleasure to meet. I felt like each step was fair and I was adequately prepared by the recruiter for what was required of me.
