I applied online. I interviewed at Dyson (Swindon, Wiltshire, South West England, England) in Sep 2016
Interview
Telephone interview and then an interview at their HQs. I was shortlisted for the job due to my management experience but I was rejected due to my lack of management experience. I am not sure whether they were just trying to fill interview slots. The interview process was very casual, we had our interview in the staff cafe. I was asked traditional interview questions, mainly focusing on my CV. This was not what I expected - I thought I would be asked structured interview questions (that all candidates will be asked - in the same order - to avoid selection bias) based around the core competencies of the role. This old process is very unreliable in terms of predictive validity of future job performance. Once I had the interview I had to chase the department on three occasions to hear back about my status. The interviews seemed inexperienced and made it quite obvious they had no intention to hire me. They also did not have a job spec. All very unprofessional. The brand they portray is not the reality of the working life at Dyson.
