      SummerRDD Interview

      Mar 16, 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Malmesbury, England
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 months. I interviewed at Dyson (Malmesbury, England) in Mar 2019

      Interview

Firstly i completed the online form sending CV and answering questions related to a time when I learned something or when I had to use of my creativity to solve a problem, and they were all kind of related to hands on approach and creativity questions. About a month later I was invited for an online interview and some online games. I think there were 3-4 questions and a few i remember were “why do you wanna work for Dyson”, “what sector/department of Dyson do you think you could contribute the most and why” and I think there was one about when I tried to do something but it didn’t work, I can’t remember very well. The games are mostly memory and logical games, like they will show a sequence of numbers and you gotta type the sequence afterwards, or they will show a few numbers and you have to add or multiply them, another one to try and find the pattern among a few figures that come up. Then about 2 months later I got invited for an assessment day. There were not many of us there on the day (<10) but I think that varies. All candidates were very nice and all Dyson employees were absolutely lovely and tried to make us as comfortable as possible. We had a group activity which lasted about 30 min and then an interview with a very senior high up member of the department they think you suit the most. A few questions were related to the group activity we have just done, like how I thought it went, what would I do if we had more time, did I contribute to it, what was my dontribution, what part of the group activity I enjoyed the most, this that I enjoyed the most is what I also enjoy in my current work/project/uni. Then I had a few technical questions related to what that department does and then there were a few questions about projects I have done, and why I would be good for the company. The interviewer was firm but also helpful. Then we had pizza for lunch! :D And we also had an individual activity in which we had to choose among 4 options what we would design or create or develop and afterwards we presented our mini project to the same interviewer from before.
