Applied several times over the last few years for related positions with and w/o response. Received email for phone interview which was pretty simplistic and non technical. Offered face to face with two engineers. Arrived early and waited in the lobby. Receptionist was very polite and brought water. I waited 45 minutes past my scheduled time and then, was greeted by the chief engineer of the mechanical department. Typical introductions. Brought into a small conference room. Drilled with constant questions about scenarios beyond the job posted description. I was not allowed time to ask any questions. Interviewer repeatedly made reference to my age and how the position would be too challenging for me. She then proceeded to discuss her distaste for her first boss as a 35 year old new engineer and her lack of speed in understanding her role. Then, she applied it to me! She continued to stamp the interview with her disrespect towards me and refer to me as too old for the position, as the department engineer entered the room. I shared this with him, but he just referred to making the most of it with other upcoming interviews with other companies. I never was offered a tour or to meet other engineers. Why bother! The chief engineer should be held accountable for age discrimination!! Just because you were treated badly when you began as a 35 year old, doesn't make it right for you to disrespect potential candidates. I was very disgusted! I would not recommend to anyone!!
