      Recruiter Interview

      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Employ (MA) (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2015

      Interview

I had a phenomenal process with Lever. It was short enough that I knew they had their internal processes together and were respectful of my time, but long enough for both of us to gather the information we both needed to make sure there was a mutually good fit. I spoke with the hiring manager via phone, then interviewed with the team and hiring managers with whom I would be working, and then finished with the three-hour career trajectory that is a staple of Lever's interview process. Communication was great, interviewers knowledgable and friendly, and all taken care of in a few weeks. I got to visit the office several times, had lunch with the team, and overall had a great experience. The only area of improvement was being greeted downstairs: I arrived for one of my interviews and the security guard had gone on his rounds, leaving me unable to get to Lever's office. I worried about being late, and was by a couple of minutes, but the interviewers and my recruiter completely understood.

      Interview

The people I interviewed with were all very friendly, professional and the conversations were fluid and they made me feel comfortable throughout the process. I would say the main issue with the interview process was that it was very lengthy and inefficient. I was put through 6 stages of interviews only to be declined. They should have asked better questions earlier on in order to identify if I was a fit or not. Definitely not a good candidate experience at all. My recommendation would be reducing the number of interviews you put a candidate through. The process took 16 days. Even at the end, I was told I would hear back from them by a certain date (and they were very responsive with quick feedback earlier on in the process), however they didn't follow up with me when they said they would. Instead, I reached out to them in order to receive any feedback. I then received an email saying they weren't going to proceed with me (not even a call). That felt a bit cold after investing so much time and effort at my end. I have realized that I am better off not working in an organization with such a weak recruitment process. If I had joined the team, I can't imagine how long closing roles would take with all their rounds of interviews.

Thank you for your feedback. I recognize this interview process involved speaking with many distinct people — a few other Recruiters on the team, a hiring manager, and a HR team member. This is intentional - we want to make sure we are vetting for different skillsets and qualities, to ultimately make the best hire possible. That said, I definitely hear you that the process can feel lengthy, and we'll take your feedback and revisit how we can shorten and simplify. We'll also make sure we are committing to more realistic response times, and following through on that more consistently. I appreciate you taking the time to engage with the process, and sharing your feedback!

      Recruiter Interview

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Employ (MA) (San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2016

      Interview

As a recruiter I strive to give candidates a great interview experience- which I absolutely received from Lever. Through every step of the process I felt respected and valued as a candidate, not like just another body going through the process. Everyone was always unfailingly genuine, kind, prepared (had knowledge of my background and what topics they were going to cover) and made me feel very comfortable in the office (making sure I had water/snacks, knew where the restroom was, etc.). The turnaround time was incredibly impressive- I always had feedback within 48, if not 24, hours. There were also always clear expectations of timelines and next steps. I received and accepted an offer, but this is said without bias- an interview process with all of these characteristics is *not* easy. It requires a ton of proactive thought, and effort from multiple people to see the execution through.
