I applied online. I interviewed at Extend, Inc. in Nov 2020
Interview
The process started with an initial call by the Lead Recruiter that led to a call with a hiring manager. After the hiring manager I was told if I could considering a senior role instead of a lead position, I would have seen this a red flag but I continued with the process anyway. I was given a coding challenge, easy, realistic work for a backend developer. That led to 4 hours of waste time. Meaning I had 5 interviews with clueless "Lead developers" testing theory instead of actual experience. Interviewers were nice but inexperience. I think the problem is how they are trying to structure their teams. I think how they consider seniority who knows more about a topic that they know and they assign them to teams, regardless of what the years of experience the person has. I was given ridiculous feedback that I was not a senior developer, when I have worked in the field for more than a decade yet their "Lead developers" and "Directors of engineering" have even less experience. Anyway the most disappointment was their intention of giving a low offer because of what the interviewers think.

System design, with crapy tools, no engagement whatsoever. Cloud first assumptions. How do you work in a team.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Extend, Inc. (New York, NY)
Interview
Was contacted by an internal recruiter, then interviewed with the platform director. Did a practical take home exercise, and after that a half day of interviews (1x technical overview, 1x architecture level, 1x review of take home, 1x behavioral). Overall refreshing experience where the team cared about past projects, areas of interest, and practical knowledge rather than algorithmic tricks. Weirdly kind, personable interviewing experience.

Specific questions about frameworks, libraries, and languages used by the company.
A simple take home lambda with code review, followed up with a virtual on-site that was mostly how you work as a team and past problem solving examples. Technical aspects were api design challenge and talking about the lambda.
Don't waste your time. They'll string you along for a long time, even if they have no intention of hiring you. These guys are just time wasters. (yours and their own)
