      Engineer Interview

      I interviewed at FarmWise

      Interview

Applied to FarmWise for an Engineering role in their San Francisco office and got an email a few days later to schedule a phone screen. The day of the phone screen I never receive a call. I reach out to them and reschedule the call. Half a day after rescheduling the initial interview I get an email to reschedule the interview again. Neither time do I received an apology or explanation. At the beginning of the phone interview, the employee is going through their spiel and casually mentions that the position is located in Salinas, which is two hours away from San Francisco. Both the job requisition and the application said the position is located in San Francisco. Additionally, in my cover letter I explicitly stated that I looking for a position that is located in the city of San Francisco. I'm told by the employee that there are two of the same engineering positions open, one in Salinas and one in San Francisco, but that they are not trying to fill the San Francisco opening at this time. There is no other way to describe this situation other than calling it what it is, a bait-and-switch. I very clearly applied to the San Francisco role, there was no mention of any work at the Salinas location in the job requisition or in the application. When setting up the phone screen there was no mention of the fact that I was interviewing for a different position than the one I applied for. There is simply no excuse for this behavior so I can only assume this was completely intentional, which is completely unprofessional and unacceptable. After this experience I would say don't waste your time with them.
