You are asked in depth about your current research, and in which direction you see your research evolved. That'll help interested teams to assess if you're a good fit or not.
The interview took place as a part of job market recruitment. The first stage is virtual interview of about 30 minutes. After the first stage, selected candidates are invited to visit Federal Reserve Board. On the day of the fly-out, the candidate presents the job market paper in a seminar. Moreover, there are one-on-one meetings with different economists.
I gave a research presentation and participated in a series of one-on-one interviews. It was a typical interview structure for people on the economics PhD job market. I also had dinner with two other economists.
