I found a job posting through Google. Halfway through the application process I almost gave up because their resume importer wasn't working properly and they had several mini essays they wanted me to write about topics like why I want to work at Fleetio and what makes me special. Based on their positive score on certain company review sites I took a chance. About a week later a Fleetio recruiter, Ethan, scheduled a screening. It was fairly standard and they seemed nice enough though I found they couldn't answer several questions of mine that I would expect a recruiter to know. They also told me that I should expect to hear about next steps in the next day or two but it took a full week. I did eventually hear back though and was asked to schedule a call with the hiring manager. At the close of this round I thought I had nailed it. The call went twice as long as the scheduled time with the hiring manager doing most of the talking. I did get the sense that they were out of their depth and that the position I was interviewing for would be filling in some of their own gaps. At the same time, they literally told me at the end that I had everything they were looking for and to expect instructions for round three later that day or the next. They even told me what to expect for the third round so I could get a head start on preparations.
I never heard from Fleetio again. A week after my call with the hiring manager I sent a polite follow-up. After an additional two weeks I sent another one. Both were ignored. I didn't even get so much as a canned rejection email.
