For my first interview, I sat through a phone pre-screen and an hour-long skills assessment proctored by their HR rep. He told me the results looked good and that he'd be getting back to me about scheduling a formal interview. Well he did get back to me the next day, to tell me "Oops, turns out the role was already filled. My bad. Feel free to reach out about other openings." So I did. I sent him a list of other openings on their website I'd applied to, and asked him if he could put in a good word with their respective hiring managers. I got radio silence from him from that point on, despite multiple attempts at communication. Eventually I learned on my own that those roles had already been filled, too. Getting turned down for an open req is one thing: It sucks for sure, but it's to be expected when you're competing for work in the worst economy in a century. But having your time wasted and your hopes dashed by an incompetent and uncaring HR staff is quite another deal. I will never apply at Flexential again, and I recommend anyone else considering a job there to reconsider. The way they treat applicants is likely a pretty good indicator of the way they treat their employees.
