I applied online and received a call back within a week for a phone interview which was followed by a link to take a series of psychometric tests. I was then invited for a face interview with the recruitment manager. As I was between jobs, one of the first things she said that "oh, you are unemployed" which I find extremely insensitive. Although, I believed I did well from the phone interview where I relayed key traits such as my business travel experience and that I am trained on Galileo which is the system that flight centre uses, I immediately sensed from the moment we sat down,(I know this is a judgement call), I sensed I was prejudiced in terms of my age and minority background. The recruiter, though professional, went through the motions of asking standard competency questions and I was off within 45 minutes. I knew she was not taking me forward but what I found totally unprofessional was there was no feedback. I had to call her two weeks later only for her to mumble stuttering words such as "I did not suit the company" or something to that effect. I gather Flight Centre do not cherish diversity and the older workforce above forty. A company recruiting process is good barometer for their reputational image and Flight Centre fails miserably on this front.
