First things first, you are doing yourself a big favour going through these posts. They had helped me out big time. As you'll find there are three parts: First part is a telephone interview, I suggest you pick out a time that gives at least a day or two to create answers for the questions based on what had people posted on this website, have them in front of you during your interview.
The second part is completing an online behavioural test, tedious but don't worry if you don't finish all the questions.Third part is the whole day group interview (Note: make sure to choose a later date so you have time to prepare and to do your research): There was just under 30 people in the room, we were seated at a table with note pads and pens in the middle, you'll find that you'll need these when the recruitment leaders start introducing the company. Take notes and look interested! This goes on for about an hour. Then there is an activity where we are paired up (of your choice) and given a few minutes to get to know our partner. The idea is to ask where they have traveled and why you think they would be prefect to work at flight centre, make sure to write down there answers and use it to sell that person to your group and recruitment leaders. Try not to rely too much on your notes when presenting. After this activity, we sat back down and are given two assessment sheets. I had studied up on areas that had been pointed out through the posts before me, however I did notice that the recruiters must have changed it up, nevertheless still take note of what the others had posted. Assessment 1- simple geography test, questions on flagship airlines of countries, where famous attractions are found (which country), there's a map of Europe where you are asked to point out some capital cities. Know the term for transport systems in particular cities such as the train system in London = Underground. Assessment 2- Numeracy- You're given a sheet of a families travel plans, based on the information given you are to calculate commission, tax, how much will it all cost and how much can be refunded etc. Don't worry all the numbers are there in the info sheet, Note be proficient in calculating percentages. During the 50 min assessment time, a recruiter will call out your name for a role play sales activity. Prior to the two assessments they will show you the 7 Steps of selling, take note of this as you will be able to bring that note with you. For our group, they had shown us a couple of destinations, which they will pick one for us to sell. We didn't know till the interviewer walked in the room as a fake customer. I stress that you practice trying to sell a holiday with your friends or family prior to the interview. Key here is to be positive and sound excited for your client, even if you're not to familiar with the destination, make it up! Make it sound like the best holiday experience ever, and that they'll be missing out if they don't go. Also make sure to implement the 7 steps of selling. Careful, you're only given 4 mins to sell, so act enthusiastic, ask the right questions (who, what, where, when, why), recommend then suggest a price and close! After this there is a lunch break, then the culling begins. They will separate the group into two rooms. If you get lucky you'll be sticking around for another 2 hours and under go behavioural activities. In the first activity you are given cards, one side with a photo on the other an inspirational quote. Choose three that best resonate with you as a persona and how want to be perceived at work (either the quote or photo). Best to have multiple answers when presenting as someone may have chosen the same card. Take note on what everyone else is interpreting and try to be different. They will do this again but as a group, this is where they test how you work in a team. The second and last activity is answering questions on how you have dealt with certain situations based on a recent experience. Thank god I work and hospitality so I had a lot of wtf stories to tell. Prior to the interview write down recent experiences of good customer service, service recovery moments and challenges that you had to overcome during work. Make sure when you are answering the questions that you are personalising the answer (don't generalise), for example recite the customers name, behaviour, how you felt, who else was involved, details, details, details! Apart from eye contact also make sure to input some animated actions such as hand movements, looking away when trying to remember the moment, a slight smile thinking of something funny. Remember its like telling a friend of your most recent escapades. Well I hope this post helps. Believe me I was a hot mess when preparing for the interview. Remember nerves are natural. You're best weapon is preparation and research. Take time to understand what this job entails. See yourself in the finish line and GOOD LUCK!
