I applied through college or university. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Florida Blue (Jacksonville, FL) in Nov 2016

      Interview

The first stage was a conference call with two actuaries. They asked questions about the Affordable Care Act and technical questions about how to approach insurance problems, such as how I might go about creating a rating model for a plan with no historical data to rely on. It lasted about forty minutes and

      Interview

Initial interview conducted by two interviewers (one managing actuary and another Sr Actuarial Analyst). It was mostly focused on going through resume, asking some technical and critical thinking questions. Second round of interview was comprised of four interviews scheduled in one day. Each interview was conducted by two interviewers (a combination of Sr Actuarial Director and/or managing actuary ). They asked some technical questions related to health care industry, scenario based statistical question, and basic questions focused on problem solving skills, as well as behavioral questions (STAR method). Overall it was a good experience. I heard back two weeks after the second round of interview.

      Actuarial Analyst Interview

      Apr 21, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Jacksonville, FL
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Florida Blue (Jacksonville, FL) in Oct 2022

      Interview

Starts with a basic screening questionnaire email which I was given 48 hours to complete. I got a follow up 24 hours later asking to advise if I wasn’t interested anymore as a “professional courtesy.” Next was one interview with 2 managing actuaries. This was scheduled for a Friday afternoon. I didn’t receive the meeting invite until Friday morning, so I wasn’t even sure if the interview was still happening. Luckily, it was rather behavioral and not too difficult. The interview process ends with an interview day consisting of a 4 interview panel with 2 FSA level actuaries in each. The request was responded to over a week away from the interview day. I didn’t receive an itinerary of who the interviewers were or the links to the video interviews until the day before. It was a constant stress of reaching out to their HR to get the interview details throughout the entire process. To make matters worse I never heard back after the interview. I followed up the week after and never got a response. Finally, 3 months pass and I get an automated email that I wasn’t selected for the position. So much for “professional courtesy” they expected from me.
