I recently went through the initial screening process at Gigster, and I was thoroughly disappointed with their approach. They asked that I complete almost 3 hours of "assessments" before even speaking to a human being:
--------
A 15-minute Aptitude Assessment, which measures your problem-solving abilities, information retention, and critical thinking skills.
A 20-minute Screening Assessment, to get a deeper understanding of your technical fit for the role.
A Real Work Scenario Assessment, which will take approximately 120 minutes, and will provide us with a thorough evaluation of your skills, knowledge, and behaviors required to excel in the role.
A 30-minute Technical Interview with one of our Hiring Managers, where we will delve deeper into your specialized skills and knowledge.
-------
I started the aptitude assessment and, upon realizing it was basic high school exam questions, opted not to continue. While I understand the importance of proving ones abilities, Gigster's approach is excessive, frivolous, and shows a blatant disregard for applicants' time.
A company's treatment of candidates during the hiring process says a lot about their culture and values. I would caution other job seekers to carefully consider if they are willing to invest time and effort trying to join a company with such an insulting screening process.
