The interview process at Grant Street Group was one of the most thorough and thoughtful experiences I’ve had. It began with an online video interview assessment paired with a short written exercise that allowed me to demonstrate my communication and problem-solving skills. From there, I had a call with HR, where they shared more about the company culture and what to expect in the next steps. The next stage was a case study with a member of the PMO team, where I was given a requirements brief and asked to outline a project roadmap, identify risks and assumptions, and prepare clarifying questions, all within the hour provided. This step felt realistic and gave me a chance to showcase my project planning skills in a time-boxed, collaborative scenario. Finally, I participated in a panel interview with C-suite executives and team members. This step was engaging and allowed me to meet several stakeholders from different parts of the organization, which helped me get a feel for the team dynamic and leadership style. Overall, the process was structured, transparent, and very people-focused. It showed me that GSG is serious about finding the right match on both sides and willing to invest time in getting to know candidates. It also gave me plenty of opportunities to evaluate whether the company was a good fit for me, which made my decision to join much easier.

Probably the most ridiculous first round interview I have ever experienced. the interviewer was an HR person playing at being a project manager. The questions were obviously scripted for them, but they lacked the knowledge to ask relevant follow up questions. Instead, they dug into the inner workings and business decisions of my previous company which had nothing to do with my project manager experience nor were relevant to this interview. I am not sure what these people are looking for or if they are even looking to hire anyone, but I would steer very clear. I would not have accepted this role even if offered based on this interview process.

The application process was long. Beyond sharing standard work experience they ask you to complete a writing sample and skills assessment just to apply. A recruiter reviews your results and reaches out if they decided there could be a fit. The call with the recruiter is relatively easy, as they are not subject matter experts and just looking for some basic info. Then you speak with two other project managers who ask more in depth questions. There are additional interviews after this, but I did not proceed further in the process and am not familiar with the remaining steps.
