Interview Process was comprised of four steps that took just under 2 months. The job is for a position Grant Street Group is subcontracting to a third party. The first step is a simple resume submission and a short essay that you have 60 minutes to complete. The second step was a phone call from HR. It isn't a traditional HR phone call, it's more of an interrogation. I don’t mean that to sound negative, I think it probably helps them extract a lot more information from a potential candidate earlier on in the interview process. Just be prepared to answer question after question as it isn’t as much as conversation.
The third phase was a 45 minutes interview with the company the position is subcontracted with. This was a pleasant conversation that focused on examples of past experience on projects and situational questions.
The final phase is a full day interview that runs from roughly 9am to 3-4pm (depending on the availability of employees and owners). You meet with various people for about 45 minutes at a time. Some interviews are one-on-one, some are with multiple people, and some are teleconferenced. You will meet with the co-owners, upper level management, business analysts, a product owner, and other members of the team. While you do get a decent amount of the same questions in each interview, each one is structured a bit differently. Some are conversations, some are personality questions, and some are “give me an example of” questions.
The process is a considerable time commitment, almost 12 hours total over 2 months for a short-term subcontracted job.
I withdrew my application after the process as I felt it was clear that a couple of the people I had interviewed with didn’t think I would be a good fit (if they don’t like you, you’ll know immediately). On the whole the process is not a bad one in that it allows the applicant and employer to get a good look at each other, at the same time it’s a considerable investment of time and effort for a temporary position.
The biggest con of the process is the job listing. It’s extremely vague. You won’t find out what the job tasks are until the day of the in-person interview and at that point you’ve already committed 3 or so hours to the process.
I believe they have changed the job listing to project coordinator now.
The company does seem like a good place to work and the employees do seem to genuinely enjoy working there. Unfortunately, things just don’t work out sometimes and I wish them the best.
