Grant Street Group interview questions

I came to this extremely prepared, with experience they said was highly relevant, and did pretty well on the questions and testing. This company was recommended to me by coworkers that are frequently hired on. The only good thing about the process was the test-based qualifier. My first interview was with someone from HR. The interview felt borderline adversarial. Any enthusiasm or empathy felt mechanical and contrived. It did not feel like a discussion, but a complete grilling in that "professional" corporate manner that I've seen in other unhealthy tech companies. From the start, interviewer refused to budge on their communication style to something more relaxed, steamrolled my comments, did not offer any feedback on my answers, and asked follow up questions that I had already answered, in a way like they didn't believe what I was telling them. They asked super specific questions about my current employer's IP and I had to keep backing off or tell them outright that I cannot speak that specifically. It seemed to be coming from a place of "How do I trap them and eliminate them as fast as possible". I almost didn't want to continue if that was what I could expect while working at this company, but I've read many people's experiences have been the same with that first interview. Surprisingly I was called back for an interview with two managers. Unfortunately, it wasn't much better. They were not as adversarial as the first one, but again, questions were too specific, no benefit of the doubt, zero feedback on answer, and no rapport building at all beyond the mandatory 30-seconds of intro questions. What I do is very technically complex, and I felt like I had to either overexplain or water it down so much that it wasn't substantive. It felt like they wanted specific answers that I was not giving them. It didn't even seem like they wanted anyone to join the team and it's just an expectation for them to interview a certain number of people. I currently work at a tech company way bigger and faster-paced than this place. It surprised me that people here are even less personable than at my current place. I'm not a totally green interviewer either. This place might be one of the worst.
