I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Guestlogix (Toronto, ON) in Jul 2019
Interview
Phone screen went well. Then they gave take home assignment to finish and using less time i have finish the code challenge but saying code review didn't pass? Vey Negative Experience with this Company. As i read previous review about this held on 10 of July same thing happen to me as well.
I first started with a phone call, it went alright and it seemed like I had the right skills to qualify to the technical component. It was a take home assignment, this is a little better than having to do whiteboarding styled questions.
I got a very artificial response about a week after from the HR Rep. Although disappointed, I understand, all I asked for was clarification as to why I was not fit for the role or what was wrong with my code so moving forward I would not make the same mistake. They never followed up, about a week later I asked again and I got the exact same email with the same text body. I told the HR Rep i understand that they are not proceeding with my application but if they could let me know why that was great and after that i did not receive any response.
If you have a canditate spend about 3-4 days working on a take home assignment to assess their skills, don't you think it is fair you at least let them know why you can't proceed with their resume.
HR Personnel and companies like these is why there is so much turnover in this industry. Start caring a little bit more about potential candidates and refrain from wasting their time. A simple feedback can foster a good future relationship and also put candidates mind at ease after working so hard on a project
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Guestlogix (Toronto, ON) in May 2019
Interview
Approached by an external recruiter. Take home test to develop an MVC application in any programming language. Past that the company took almost a 3 weeks to schedule in person interview. In-person interview was for about 3 hours. 1st round was with 2 devs - basically code review of take home test. 2nd round was with team lead and architect (I guess). Questions revolved around system design and architecture and projects worked on. 3rd round was with the HR. It took them about a week to inform they are not making an offer and the reason was not very convincing. Although interview was easy, I didn't think it would have been a good match for me. So kind of worked well for both parties
