I applied on indeed and was contacted the next day to schedule an interview time. At the restaurant, I was asked to fill out an in-person application and required to wait for about 30 minutes with other applicants after I finished. 10 or so people interviewed while I was there and most of the interviews only lasted 5 to 10 minutes. They'd pretty much decided if they liked you after the first few minutes of conversation. The initial manager I interviewed with told me she enjoyed our conversation and went to get the GM. I interviewed with him, he gave me paperwork to sign (about Covid, tax information, my social, etc.) and I was told I had one more interview to take through zoom before I started training this week. The GM gave me tips on what to say and wear during the final interview, because, in his words, he “really wanted me to get the job.” I was also sent a background check link that I filled out the next day. Everyone I talked to that day made it seem like I had gotten the job and because I falsely believed I’d be training this week, I declined my other job offer (because I didn't want to string two companies along) and told 5+ other companies I was unable to come in for an interview. I'm not sure what went wrong during the final interview, but I'm guessing HR made the final decision. I was incredibly disappointed and unimpressed with their process. Though I enjoyed talking to the managers during my interviews and the atmosphere was very friendly, I did not appreciate being told I'd start training, only to find out I did not receive the job. I will now have to humble myself and ask to reschedule the interviews I declined/for a second chance at accepting the other job offer.
