Slow interview process. The interview process is not difficult, just slow. From what I hear of others, it depends on the hiring manager. Some managers in the field are pretty good at the interview process. If you interview with a good Regional Manager and a good Division Manager you will know it. There are only a few good ones out there. Ask a lot of questions and you will spot the idiots. Hilti is wants to hire strong talent but does not know how to deal with people who bring in new ideas. So do not say you will change the Hilti world--you will get labeled as "Well Placed" which means you will never get promoted. The truly talented people end up leaving to get better positions at other companies. Hilti has a good reputation to the outside world so if you work it right, it could be a good stepping stone. If you have a MBA and think it will help you get somewhere because you have increased your human capital, be careful. Hilti will tell you what your want to hear but I have heard too many people claim they heard the same lies as I heard. If you like starting at the same level or position as someone who has NOT paid the price in getting a MBA and working as hard as you did to better yourself, than jump right in and plan on staying there a long time. Be really careful when they use the term "strategic hire". You will get considered for promotion just like everyone else and if someone has a manager who likes them more than your manager likes you, guess who gets promoted.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I do not remember any difficult questions. The questions are behavioral questions so just have PAR(problem-action-result) stories ready. Be excited, they want excited people.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hilti North America (Los Angeles, CA) in Apr 2017
Interview
-The recruiting specialist reached out to me for a phone screen interview; this was scheduled the following day
-The following week, I had a Skype interview with regional managers and district manager from their respected territories and segments
-The following week, Hilti flew me out to my potential territory for the "field ride."
-I received an offer immediately after the ride...16 days after the recruiting specialist reached out to me.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Hilti North America (Tulsa, OK) in Apr 2014
Interview
After a brief phone screen with the recruiter, she referred me to the hiring manager who then spent about an hour with me. The interview process is behavioral based and the interviewers spend most of their time evaluating how you handled various situations in your previous role(s). In order to advance to the next round (doing a ride along), you need to have solid experience.

Tell me about a time when you dealt with a customer who had unreasonable expectations.
I applied through other source. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Hilti North America (Chicago, IL) in Apr 2013
Interview
It was a 4 step interview process. First a phone screen with the HR person. Second with the manager. Third with the divisional and some other managers. The last step of the interview process is a ride-a-long with an account manager.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The questions were pretty straight forward and were mostly behavioral questions (i.e. tell me a time you had to work for someone that was difficult to work with).
