Interview
I applied online and got an email to set up a phone screen one week after applying. The recruiter emailed me Thursday night asking if I can take the call the next morning in which I happily agreed. She contacts me and saying she saw that I applied for the RC role but she's specifically looking for a Technical Recruiter. I tell her my work experience and she has my resume in front of her. Her style of prescreening was very hasty/interrogating and constantly cutting me off. After talking for 20-30 minutes, she cuts me off to say I don't have the technical recruiting experience she was looking for.
I know how recruiting works as I am a recruiter myself. If you are trying to fill an open order, don't contact someone who applied for a different role in attempt to fill your position only to tell the candidate they aren't a good fit. You have my resume in front of you so it should come to no surprise that I was not the technical recruiter you were looking for. Save yourself and I some time next time and actually look at a resume before you call a candidate, especially for another role they did not apply for. I rated the interview difficulty as difficult only because I couldn't finish talking before getting cut off. I was very hopeful for this opportunity with Houzz but what a disappointment due to poor recruiting.
Probably the worst phone screen I've ever experienced. For starters, the interviewer totally forgot that she even had an interview scheduled with me. Secondly, she was extremely rude and condescending, following my answer to every question saying "Fair enough." If you're not willing to give me the time of day during our phone screen, or if you're harshly judging candidates before they even have a chance to explain their responses, please save both our times and don't contact me.
Obviously never heard back, not even a "we're sorry it wasn't a good fit" type of email.
