I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Hyperloop One (Los Angeles, CA)
Interview
I applied online. The interviews started with a recruiter phone screen, then an interview with the hiring manager, after that interview with 2 people of the team. Finally, a virtual on-site interview starting with a presentation from me, then 4 interview sessions. I liked the team. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. So I accepted their offer over another offer I had from another city.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
A combination of easy and hard coding problems, together with some behavioral interviews.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Hyperloop One (Los Angeles, CA) in Apr 2022
Interview
I was told there are 4 rounds:
1. HR interview (30 minutes).
2. Technical interview with a Team Leader (1 hour).
3. Panel interview (30 minutes of technical presentation of relevant past work, 30 minutes of Q&A).
4. On-site tour.
The HR interview was rather standard. The technical interview was Amazon-style: 30 minutes of behavioral questions (STAR format) followed by 30 minutes of live coding (LeetCode Easy).
My interviewer in the second round did not like me from the start. He told me that he does not consider my degree to be suitable for the position, although it is higher than his and in the same discipline.
It was the first time someone discriminated against me because of my title.
I received an automatic rejection notification 3 weeks later.
Interview questions were interesting. I enjoyed the interview experience. But the Recruiter Evan Sowards was unprofessional, a bad communicator and my experience with him was bad. The company is good and futuristic.
