An internal recruiter reached out to me to see if I was interested in their Sr PMM opening a few months ago. I have worked in this industry for several years and observed how Instructure has changed over this time, so I was interested in learning more and discussing a potential opportunity. During the call, he seemed nice at first but became defensive when I started asking questions about the company, team, and the reason why the role was open. He gave short answers and said he wanted to move me along in the process, which I agreed to based on the information I had at the time. I researched more on those unanswered questions between that call and the next interview, and accidentally came across information that directly contradicted the information he had given me (one example being lying about the reason the role was open--they actually laid off the team a couple weeks before this call). Transparency and honesty are important values to me and any company I work for, so I reached out to the recruiter to let him know that I was unfortunately no longer interested or available and wished him the best of luck filling the role. He responded with an unprofessional, aggressive message that made me incredibly uncomfortable. I would never consider Instructure and advise others to stay away as well.
