      Interview

Online Submission ; Phone Interview w Head of Customer Support; Phone Interview w Customer Support Leads x 2 Online Submission was straightforward Phone Interview with Head of Customer Support was enjoyable I found 1 of the 2 interviewers in the 3rd round wasn't that comfortable with interviewing which meant it was difficult to communicate. But overall it was a positive experience, unfortunately it wasn't a successful outcome for me.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why do you want to join Intercom? Why is this role the best next step for you right now? What would your last boss say are your greatest strength and greatest weakness? When faced with a question you don’t know the answer to how would you go about finding the answer? What software impresses you and why? What software would you consider yourself a power user of? What makes you a power user of this software? What simple change would you make if you could? What is the most interesting thing you’ve learned recently? What’s the most memorable service interaction you’ve ever had with a company (local shop, restaurant, app, global mega-corporation, etc.) Would you rather be achieving your own goals but your team is struggling to achieve its group goals OR struggling to achieve your own goals but your team is achieving its group goals? When you think of the most effective manager that you've ever had, what are the traits that stand out in your mind? What feedback would you offer this manager? The following are items on your todo list for today but you only have time to complete 3 of the 5 things, which 3 would you chose and in what order? 1. Respond to an angry customer that one of your team has escalated to you. 2. Attend your weekly one on one meeting with a star performer on your team. 3. Attend your weekly one on one meeting with a poor performer on your team. 4. Finish preparing analytics data for a meeting with your manager and other support leads in the afternoon. 5. Read through your team's recent responses to see if anyone could benefit from feedback.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Intercom (Dublin, Dublin) in Oct 2015

      Interview

I submitted my CV online. They replied quickly (within a day) and sent me an email with a questionnaire containing 10 questions. After that, I had two interviews: one with the director of the org and one with a team member. They were both very pleasant; the first interviewer was very involved in the interview, asking questions, etc. The second interviewer had no experience doing interviews and it was difficult for me to get her to talk more, even when I asked her questions. Unfortunately, I didn't get a good impression from her, so I was ready to say no to any offers (I would have been working with this person). However, I didn't get one. The email I received with the 'no thanks' was lousy, which surprised me. No feedback whatsoever about the interviews was given.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

What's your favourite book?; how did you hear about the company?; give me an example of leadership. No surprising or unexpected questions.
