They had me prepare a detailed (fictitious) presentation to show my thinking and creativity. However, when I was finished the panel didn't ask a SINGLE question about the material and my talk was never mentioned again in any of my interviews. What was the point of it? The interviewers didn't ask me many questions about my past work experience, even though I was prepared to present case study examples. Instead, they asked lots of hypothetical questions about what I WOULD do if hired. I felt ill-prepared to answer on the spot (see "my presentation"!) and lacked lots of necessary data and the inside perspective to address these Qs. While most of my interviews were conversational, the hiring manager interrogated me with a list of prepared Qs and even cut short some of my answers to have the time to cover them all!
