      Product Designer Interview

      Mar 20, 2024
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I interviewed at Intercom (London, England)

      Interview

The level of communication and condescending behaviour from their internal talent team bordered unprofessional. If it's an indication of how people interact with each other in that company, sounds like it could be a bit toxic

      Product Designer Interview

      May 18, 2021
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Dublin, Dublin
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Intercom (Dublin, Dublin) in May 2021

      Interview

Intercom is a company that seemingly has no logical approach to their interview process. They’ve gotten in touch with me several times before with interview offers. I had declined because the timing wasn’t right. Then I applied for this role because the timing was finally right and they didn’t offer me an interview because of a “lack of experience” (I have 10 years experience and was applying for a mid level role.) Then, extremely weirdly, one of their recruiters got in touch with me and offered me an interview for the exact same role. So I took it because intercom has always been interesting to me. I have an interview call with one of their recruiters. It’s clear from the call that my skills fit the role and that I have the right amount of experience. I’m told they’ll get back in touch by Thursday at the latest. The following Tuesday they tell me that they don’t want to progress to an interview and won’t offer a reason why. Here’s my guess: either I know someone in there who’s tanked my application or else they took offence that I had previously turned down interviews and are keeping records. I never ever complain about experiences like this but I really feel like Intercom goes out of their way to waste time. I understand that sometimes a candidate just isn’t right for the role but that doesn’t seem to be what happens at intercom. It’s too weird and opaque. And I’m guessing that the reason why they won’t give interview feedback is because they know they’re selecting candidates in a dodgy way and are avoiding litigation. I’m not wasting anymore of my time on this company and neither should you.
