Question 1
What makes you a good fit for this job? Give one example of a situation where you had to balance urgency of the task and attention to detail. If you had to give money to a company, which would it be? Why?
I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at J.P. Morgan (Madrid) in Oct 2014
Interview
The process was very long and consisted of 6-8 interviews during which as you progress you get to meet a decent share of the team. I interviewed with 3/4 analysts, 2/3 associates, a VP and a MD.
Interviews weren't very technical and focused more on your fit and what your interests lie on. Despite not receiving an offer, the experience was very good. Interviewers were approachable and understanding while demanding, they guide you if you are not sure of your answers, gladly answer all of your questions and explain you what are their expectations, what is the stage of the process and warn you about the intensity of the job and the hours it implies (which is good to know if you don't have any IB experience).
The process is very competitive and I was told that for a single position the initial list of candidates was at +1000 CVs. Most of the team is made up of engineers that will try to test your math skills so be ready to perform quick mental calculations (000 * 000).
I believe the process is 100% meritocratic, what rarely happens in Spain.
