I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at JCPenney (Tyler, TX) in Jul 2017
Interview
Applied online on June 30th and got a email a week later from the HR Supervisor saying that I was a candidate and gave me three open times for an interview. The interview time I chose was for one o'clock and I got their 20 minutes early. As I sat there 5 more people came in and as soon it was one the Assistant manager came out and showed us to this back room where they held meetings at when I walked I immediately saw colored blocks on the table.
We all sat down and got a chance to introduce ourselves to ease the tension after that he said that we were going to do an exercise with the blocks to see how we work in a team environment and how we work well under stress. He gave each of us 10 seconds in a 15 minute time frame to look at the image and instruct the others how to build exactly like the structure he showed us ( gave us extra time since he had to walk out for a number of reasons) after our time was done he told us we were the 4th group in 5 years he's seen complete it. After that he asked us to answer something me questions about customer service and being late and all that. Then he talked about the store, his expectations, dress code, salary, availability and other things involved. Then he told all us we were hired because of our personalities and conductivity as a team were perfect for the positions. So when I get a call from the Hr supervisor next week I'll be starting training and orientation for the men's department.
Btw I'm 16 and this is my first job.
It was overall an easy interview. In a group setting of interviewees, we were asked to each talk about what we thought good customer service was. Then, we had some blocks to build a structure, a house I remember. Without the person you were instructing being able to see the blueprint, you had to describe what to do with the blocks without touching the blocks. I didn't know how I did, but I got hired. This was the holidays of 2017. :)
