I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at JCPenney (Seattle, WA) in Sep 2014
Interview
Group interview, pretty basic interview questions - they wanted to see who stuck out in the group personality wise and who wasn't a good fit. After a few rounds of questions they separated each of us to ask us individual questions - quite a few people from my group were hired, I was hired on the spot. Just be confident, speak up, volunteer to go first in the group settings, that's what most retailers are looking for - someone who is outgoing.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How would you sell a customer this product?
How would you deal with an angry customer?
Give us an example of a time you provided excellent customer service.
It was overall an easy interview. In a group setting of interviewees, we were asked to each talk about what we thought good customer service was. Then, we had some blocks to build a structure, a house I remember. Without the person you were instructing being able to see the blueprint, you had to describe what to do with the blocks without touching the blocks. I didn't know how I did, but I got hired. This was the holidays of 2017. :)
