I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at JCPenney (Newport News, VA)
Interview
I applied online and 1 month and a half later was contacted by phone. I was asked if I could talk for a bit. They asked me the questions below. We then scheduled an interview. The interview was a group interview. First we introduced ourselves and told everyone in the interview a little bit about ourselves. Then we spent 15 min. assembling colored blocks in order to match the image we were shown. They looked like colored jenga blocks. Each person is given 10 seconds to memorize the image. Then you are given 60 seconds to tell the group how to build it. They go around the room continuing to do this until time is up. I recommend focusing on the portion of the block image that you are currently working on. ( Don't attempt to memorize the entire image in that first set of 10 seconds because you will get another turn.) Once we were done with that we were given ideas the company has and wants to do for the store. You get 5 min. to choose one of the ideas and and thinks of how you are going to pitch this idea to ur group. Then you have 1 min. to pitch the idea to your group. Once everyone has pitched their idea, you must work together and pick one idea the entire group agrees upon that the company should use. The last part was being asked if we had any questions. The entire interview lasted about 45-50 minutes. I was nervous at first but actually enjoyed this interview.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at JCPenney (Tempe, AZ)
Interview
It was in a very professional and comfortable setting in the store. And it was conducted with the store and salon manager at that location. Both of the managers were kind and professional.
It was a group interview which led to an individual interview with a supervisor. If you pass the first round you have a higher chance of getting hired on for a position
Interview process went smoothly. Asked behavioral questions and situational questions that catered to how you deal with a variety of customer personalities. Also asked about previous employment roles. Offered a job on the first interview.
