After conducting phone screens with both the hiring manager and the VP, I was requested to submit my professional references for scoring assessment (7 total were submitted, including 3 former managers), then I was invited in for an on-site interview at their Littleton, CO offices. Despite having 35 years of professional experience related to the open role (6 Fortune 50 companies, including a tenure their largest global competitor), 7 professional certifications, a special program certificate from Harvard University, and a decorated US Marine Corps combat veteran, Johns Manville made a decision to reject me, stating that my background didn't meet with their expectations. Compounding such rejection was the fact that my disabilities were discussed at the site interview (I am a Purple Heart receipient), even though I didn't want to discuss them. Consequently, if you are a US combat veteran and perhaps disabled from your dedicated service, Johns Manville will summarily reject you, and they will degrade your experience no matter who you worked for as well as your professional education. It is also hard to believe that they are a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary as well, since Warren Buffett often praises the service of military veterans. Steer clear of this company in your job search, unless you are braced for insulting personal questions and a harsh rejection decision afetrwards.
