I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Kickdrum (Bengaluru) in Feb 2018
Interview
First there was a codepair round (1 hour)... a dynamic programming problem. not so hard...simple. some SQL question, data structure questions...
Then they invited for F2F interview rounds... They informed me that there will be 3 F2F rounds and then 1-2 telephonic rounds with USA counterparts..
I had 2 F2F rounds of interview and then I was told that they are keeping my candidature on hold.
What I have felt that their current projects are on Java, SQL, AWS tech stack.. so they are looking for experts on these technologies only. In websites, they have written that they would look out for any tech expertise...but, I think their decisions are mostly based on current project specific requirement. I had a different expectation though :)
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Design Tiny URL services... AWS questions.
SQL questions, challanges... lot of stress on strategies on optimizing SQL query executions on very large SQL dbs. They would bring you couple of their project challenges and ask for your thoughts.

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Kickdrum in Dec 2017
Interview
Kickdrum is building their core team in India. The interview process was well planned and professional. Appreciate the case study discussion round, as we get the feel of actually solving a technical challenge at work.

Question 1
Solving 2 Medium-Hard questions in HackerRank (java/design & SQL)
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Kickdrum (Bengaluru)
Interview
The process was very professional and conducted very well. It starts with an online test consisting of problem solving and SQL questions. Following that there were three rounds with the India team ranging from technical basics (JAVA, Data structures & Algos, SQL) , architecture and solutioning of applications to people management and leadership skills. Once you clear these rounds you have multiple interviews with the Principals of the company (based out of US). I had four calls with four different principals which focused on technical details, problem solving, AWS knowledge, leadership & people skills. I thoroughly enjoyed the process as it was very professionally done and I was able to learn a lot about where I stand as well.
Interview questions [5]
Question 1
You are given a stream of numbers and you need to compute the median after every number. Whats the approach
Why use an index, overhead of an index, typical implementation of an index. If I have an index on columns a, c and another one on c,a does it make sense and how would each one be used?
They give a popular application like AirBnB and ask you to solution it from website to the backend. How do you scale it and ensure that its fault tolerant as well as HA. Lot of emphasis on AWS stack and knowledge of AWS components to achieve HA and fault tolerance
Problem solving skills where you are given a puzzle to solve. The emphasis is on how you approach the problem and not on the solution. They want to see how the candidate approaches any problem.
Hi,
Thanks for sharing the details of your interview experience with us. It is very unfortunate we could not have you onboard. We always keep our options open for candidates who match our expectations.
